The Noord region provides around 1700 pilot services every year on the Eems. These are for the ports of Delfzijl and Eemshaven. Around 700 services are also provided for the Harlingen area. Vessels are continuously piloted, 24 hours a day, under all kinds of conditions. The pilots are transferred to and from ship from Eemshaven and Harlingen with pilot tenders. The coordination centre in Eemshaven is responsible for the coordination and planning of these activities.
